Why Must We Go? Whom Shall I Send? Isaiah 6:8

Imagine being sent back into the culture. God desires to send us back into the culture. “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” Romans 10:13-15

Sin is the world’s enduring problem. A person can have the form of Godliness, an outward appearance of holiness, but struggling with sin. The presence of God has a way of showing us how small we are, but He wants to use us to rescue humanity from sin. God expects us to redeem someone else. The gospel is the only enduring solution. We are lost without God’s intervention through the act and message of the Cross. God’s intervention has always come as a remedy to man’s sinfulness.

The remedy needs a conduit. How will they hear if someone does not tell them? How will they receive the solution if someone is not sent? The deliverance of the cure for the ills of sinfulness requires willing missionaries. “We are ambassadors for Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:20

Take Away:

  • Sin is the world’s disease.
  • The Gospel is the cure.
  • The Church (you/we) is/are the carrier of the cure.

The Church is beautiful because she is endowed with the purpose of giving herself away whole-heartedly to the world God desires to redeem.
