What does the empty tomb mean to me today?

What does the empty tomb mean to me today?

There was a Sunday after Easter Sunday immediately after Resurrection Sunday. That Sunday was probably more exciting than the Easter Sunday. They had to be curious about the person they heard about.

“In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:18-25‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. “For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:7-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:1-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Do you believe enough to act like what was promised is so?

Our relationship to sin: I see you but you are dead to me

Just because you have been delivered from the power of sin doesn’t mean you forget what it tasted like

Acknowledge that the impossible is possible with God. Why don’t we pray Lord help me to not sin against you. We should pray this prayer with expectation.

Remind yourself that you don’t have to understand how it will happen. If you don’t think it’s possible to not sin then you have given yourself permission to sin.

While the battle gets easier and ultimately won our faith is always growing. We grow from faith to faith and grace to grace.

Seek God’s help to believe. “And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

Mark‬ ‭9:21-24‬ ‭ESV‬‬
