The Aftermath: Because of This Day

The Aftermath: Because of This Day

Matthew 28:1-10

What is the result of Christ’s resurrection?
What does the resurrection of Jesus Christ mean for us?

He Lives
~ Alfred H. Ackley

Verse 1
I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say
I see His hand of mercey, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He’s always near

Chorus
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today
He walks with me and talks with me
Along life’s narrow way

Chorus 2
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart

Verse 2
In all the world around me I see His loving care
And though my heart grows weary I never will despair
I know that He is leading, through all the stormy blast
The day of His appearing will come at last

Verse 4
Rejoice, rejoice O’ Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ, the King
The hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find
None other is so loving, so good and kind

Point 1

Jesus is STILL here!

This isn’t a day where we memorialize the past, but where we declare our present and future reality. We have the help we need here and now because Jesus is alive!

Matthew 28:20
Hebrews 13:15

Point 2

You can stand on Christ’s every promise.

My sins are forgiven.
I am a new creation.
I can live without sin.
All my needs will be supplied.
I will do great works.
I am an overcomer.

He started with the hardest one first. He overcame death and the grave!

Point 3

We can live boldly because Jesus defeated our most feared enemy.

What is left for us to fear?

Living boldy for Christ means sharing what we know to be the truth.

Takeaways

  1. We have the help we need because Jesus is still here.
  2. We can stand on Christ’s every promise because he kept on of the biggest ones first.
