Making a Turn – Forget It!

Making a Turn – Forget It!

Every new beginning starts with something ending. You have to let go of the person you are in order to change and become the new person you want to be.

Philippians 3:3-16

Ending can be a difficult process even when we initiate it. We associate ending with loss. Don’t resist ending. Deal with it directly.

There is a process for ending.

  • Identify what is ending and what is not.
  • What is being lost.
  • Acknowledge the feelings of loss. They are real.
  • Signs of grief may appear. Accept them. Anger, bargaining, anxiety, sadness, disorientation and depression.
  • Mark the ending and treat the past with respect.
  • Remember that ending ensures the continuance of what matters most.

“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” Philippians 3:7-9

Take Away:

  • Acknowledge that ending can be difficult, but necessary.
  • Don’t resist the ending, but confront it head on.
  • Embrace the process of ending to ensure that what matters most continues.
