Making a Turn

Making a Turn

“A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.” Unknown

  • We fail to recognize that change is complex.
  • Change is inevitable
  • We sometimes struggle with change.
  • Change is situational. Transition is psychological.

To become who we want to be we must understand the process of transition. Change is not the most difficult part, it’s the transition.

Transition is a 3-part internal process that accompanies any change.

Philippians 3:3-14

“…For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ…”

Philippians 3:8-9

  • Ending – letting go of old ways and old identities. Every transition begins with an ending.
  • Neutral Zone – In-between time when the old is gone, but the new is not fully functional.
  • New Beginning – Coming out of transition an into the new reality.

Take Away

  • Change is difficult because of your inability to manage transition.
  • Transition is a 3-part internal process that accompanies any change.
