The Timid Mind

The Timid Mind

2 Corinthians 10:3–5
2 Timothy 1:3–12

Opening Statement
The call to Christ is a call to a new life. This new life begins with a new mind. Therefore, we must view the fearful/timid mind as contrary to our calling and God’s purpose.

What are the thoughts that hinder you?
What are the fears that paralyze you from forward movement?

  • Rejection
  • Failure
  • Judgment
  • Being alone
  • Responsibility
  • Accountability
  • Vulnerability
  • Exposing of my past
  • Lack of wealth
  • Lack of knowledge

Point 1
Know that God has given you the capacity for greatness.

It is a promise that we should rest upon.

The Holy Spirit is the guarantee that you’re with God and belong to Him.

2 Timothy 1:1,5
Ephesians 2:10
Ephesians 1:3–14

Point 2
What can/should I do to combat the fearful/timid mind?
Fan God’s gift that is within you until it becomes a flame.

2 Timothy 1:6

Point 3
The fearful and timid mind aren’t of God.
Their origin is built upon the lies of the old (flesh) way.

2 Timothy 1:7

Point 4
Be sure, not only of what God has said of you and placed within you, but that God will make sure it is accomplished.

2 Timothy 1:12
