Submission: Cultivating His Presence

Submission: Cultivating His Presence

Point 1
Our submission is to be thoughtfully considered.

God wants our submission… God commands our submission. But God won’t make us submit.

Why won’t we willingly submit?
We’re afraid that submission will mean that we lose our identity.

Jesus didn’t lose His identity when He submitted to the will of God the Father. We’re afraid that submission will mean that I have low self-worth.

Rather than pointing to a low self-worth, submission points to our affirmation of God’s infinite worth.

Mark 8:34
Ephesians 5:21
Mark 9:35
Philippians 2:5–8

Point 2
Our submission is to be daily.

What does that look like?

  • Submission to God.
  • Submission to the Word.
  • Submission to family.
  • Submission to authority.
  • Submission to the Body of Christ.

Luke 9:23

Point 3
Submission is to our benefit.

  • It proves that I don’t have to get my way.
  • It frees me to give in to the will of others.
  • It reveals a heart of selfishness.
  • It allows me to value others above myself.

Matthew 20:25–28
Mark 9:35
