Cultivating His Presence

Cultivating His Presence

Opening Quote
“In contemporary society our Adversary majors in three things: noise, hurry, and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in muchness and manyness, he will rest satisfied.”
~Richard Foster~

Opening Statement
Cultivating the continual presence of God begins with having him inhabit our thoughts. That begins with the discipline of meditation.

Psalm 1:1–3
Philippians 4:8–9

Point 1
Meditation is an invitation to God.

In meditation we are inviting God to come, take control, and do what we cannot do ourselves.

We invite God to:
teach us
comfort us
rebuke us
clean us

Point 2
Meditation is about hearing and obeying.

While it is easy to focus on the word obey, hearing God is the more vital aspect of meditation.

Point 3
Meditation makes God’s omnipresence a reality in my life.

Closing Quote
“There remains one single duty. It is to keep one’s gaze fixed on the master one has chosen and to be constantly listening so as to understand and hear and immediately obey his will.”
~Jean-Pierre de Caussade~
