That I may know Him!
Philippians 3:7-21 ESV
Paul in writing this letter recognizes that being a Christian is not the end of the journey but the beginning.
What does it mean to know God?
Know that the flesh will disappoint you at some point so we should have no confidence in it
Our journey to know Christ must be more than intellectual.
Ex. Difference between knowing Oprah and knowing who she is.
Paul came to know Christ as he walked with him, prayed, obeyed the will of Christ a D sought to glorify His name
Paul says he doesn’t want a righteousness just from following laws and rules. He wants a different relationship with God. He wants a relationship where God loves him no matter what.
How much of your knowledge of Jesus is based on your experience with Him versus what you have heard or read?
To triple know Christ is to be filled with the power of the resurrected Christ
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
When you see me you see a new me
The power in my now comes from the resurrected Jesus
Desire to love not the judge and jury but the one who gave His life for me!
Share in His sufferings
Do I want the Sunday morning kind of relationship or do I desire to know Him?
Are you willing to lose as Jesus lost for the sake of His name
You are always chasing this relationship.
We must be constantly asking what can we do to know Him more.
