A Place to Belong (Back to Church Sunday)

A Place to Belong (Back to Church Sunday)

Ephesians 2:19-22

We ought to be saying to others you are welcome.

We can sit and sing and glorify God, and at the same time make those who desire to be among us not feel welcome.

God, because of grace, always sees us and others “made new”.

The problem: we believers, see ourselves and others as “not worthy, fallen, and in need of redemption.”

Our lens makes us see other people as outsiders.

The church is the place where outsiders belong.

We need to remember that our sin made us all outsiders.

At some point in your life, you were considered an outsider by God.

Ephesians 2:1-3
You used to live in sin. You used to be an outsider.

Ephesians 2:11-12
Don’t forget you used to be an outsider.

The church has always been a place for outsiders to feel welcome.

Ephesians 2:10
I know who you were but God doesn’t see you that way.

Sin made me an outsider and God brought me near to Him.

You’re relationship with God may be personal, but it isn’t private.

The church is always singular.

Ephesians 2:19-22
Do citizens have responsibility as part of whatever unit they are apart of?

We have to extend to people the grace that was extended to us. You don’t get right in the world. You get right in church.

You belong here.
This is a place to belong.
You are home.
God wants you to be part of His family.
