What We Are Building

At Harvest Christian Fellowship we have a grand vision, that we believe is God's vision. Our vision is to transform the world for Christ, one relationship at a time. We see first, a community of people whose lives have been transformed through their personal relationships with Jesus Christ. We then see the world transformed through these persons:

Excitedly Doing the Work of Ministry

  • We see…
    • Men and women moving outside of the four walls of the church building to serve in the community.
    • Every member recognizing and operating in his or her particular call to ministry service.
    • People who are not content to merely be "pew" members of the body.
    • The church as a viable partner in the transformation of the community through offering its unique voice and service in areas where common goals are identified.
    • Men and women who have discovered their unique, God-given spiritual gifts, and excitedly use them to advance the kingdom of God.
    • Members who understand that the workplace is an extension of their personal ministry, and seek opportunities to serve excellently in that arena.
    • An army of called, motivated, equipped, developed, and deployed persons, ready for service to the Lord.

Growing into Mature Believers

  • We see…
    • People who are growing beyond a "saving" knowledge of Christ as Savior, to a relationship with Him as Lord and friend.
    • Men and women who know that salvation isn't the end of the journey, but the beginning of a life committed to the mission of Christ.
    • A church where men, women, and youth diligently seek to become lifelong learners of Jesus Christ.
    • A church where everyone practices spiritual disciplines in an effort to be in position for God to grow them spiritually.
    • A community where people grow confident in their position within the family of God, know their salvation is secure, and seek ways to express their love for His gift.

Living Together in Loving Relationships

  • We see…
    • A body of people who know that they are called to be a part of a group, and not stand alone as an individual.
    • A church of people who genuinely care to see each other expand, advance, and grow in their walk as Christians not just on Sunday, but daily.
    • A ministry made up of people who encourage one another to live in a manner that honors Christ.
    • A church where people support one another in times of need, and celebrate one another in times of joy.
    • A community of people who gather in small groups to ensure that no matter the size of the congregation, each person can be connected to a group that can meet their spiritual and some temporal needs.

Learning the Word of God

  • We see…
    • An environment that encourages study of the Word of God
    • A church seeks relevant means to teach the Word of God
    • Men and women hungry to learn to rightly divide the Word of God
    • A place where the Bible is not just seen as a historical book of facts and notions, but the foundational book of our faith and practice.

Helping Others Come to Know Jesus Christ

  • We see…
    • Men, women, and children who are excited to share their faith with those others.
    • A church that cares about the growth of newly saved persons, not just their confession and conversion.
    • People who understand that our circles of influence are prime grounds for sharing our faith, and we therefore share our testimony and the gospel with friends and family.

Striving to Live Lives Where Nothing is Missing or Broken

  • We see…
    • A place where people not only expect to be whole, but where we strive to become whole through our relationship with God through Christ.
    • A church where God's desire for His children to be whole is taught, understood, and embraced.
    • A ministry where wholeness, integrity, and health are not measured by material possessions alone, but are seen to include spiritual and emotional wholeness also.
    • A church that counts couples, singles, and families with children as complete units, designed by God, and equally important to Him.
    • A community where the spiritual, emotional, and temporal needs of every individual, couple, and family are important.
    • A community that is protective of the marital union, and strives not to make ministry a priority over marriage.

Authentically and Intimately Loving God

  • We see…
    • A church that views worship as a lifestyle, and not merely a Sunday morning activity.
    • A place where people can feel free to express their love for God in song, dance, and other forms of artistic expression.
    • A church that does not exalt the form of worship, over the function, and therefore embraces traditional and contemporary forms of worship.

Recognizing that We Must Work Together to Get Things Done

  • We see…
    • A place that develops ministry leaders continually.
    • A church that knows the importance of making sure that primary ministry leaders are supported by committed assistants and apprentices.
    • A place where leaders are taught to always be in the process of discipling (training) the next generation of ministry leadership.
    • A church where every ministry leader has an assistant leader or ministry apprentice.
